Learn the basics of image editing with Photoshop Elements 2.0, Adobe's digital imaging software, providing much of the power of Photoshop in an affordable package. These classes will get you up to speed with the essentials: using the basic tools, image enhancements, color correction, editing and preparing images for e-mail, the web or home printing. You will learn how to use your critical eye and move beyond "auto" adjustments.
Fine artists will learn how to:
· Create quality images of your artwork from scans or digital photos;
· Turn images into line drawings;
· Make black/white images from color;
· Change colors in images;
· Submit your work to online artist directories;
· Use filters to create special effects; and much more.
Digital photographers will learn how to:
· Fix perspective and other camera lens distortions;
· Enhance/correct scans or digital photos;
· Create image collages, composites and montages;
· Make black/white or sepia images from color;
· Correct red eye and change other colors;
· Begin to learn to work with layers
· Use filters to create special effects; and much more.
Requirements: You must own Photoshop Elements 2.0 - available in stores for $50 to $85. Other versions of Photoshop will not be supported in the class. Macintosh or PCs okay. This course assumes familiarity with basic computer concepts such as:
Ability to load pictures from your digital camera or scanner;
Find, open and save images in folders on your computer;
And e-mail to upload homework assignments.
This course is designed for beginning and intermediate computer users, but even more advanced students have been pleased with the new tricks and shortcuts they learn.
Photoshop is best learned by practice. Unfortunately, a simple trial-and-error approach can be very frustrating. The learning curve on this program is enormous. No worries, though... the lectures and demonstrations (via an LCD projection of the computer screen) give attendees the direction and guidance they need. After each lecture the students will receive assignments they have 5 days to complete. These assignments give constructive feedback to help students focus on the exact principles needed to develop working skills.
About the Instructor - Donna Schaffer
Since the late 70s my hands-on computer experience has always been in pursuit of the creative. It started with the earliest bitmap graphics on the first Mac when I was with Apple's ad agency, to my love for Photoshop today. My Photoshop knowledge developed through many JC classes, plus my membership in the National Association of Photoshop Professionals (NAPP) and other seminars and conventions. I use Photoshop everyday, whether it's to work on the websites I develop, or to help me play with my reference photos. As a fulltime oil painter, there are lots of skills I can help other artists develop in using Photoshop as an assistant to their work, and as a tool for getting their work seen. Registration Cost: $100 Maximum class size - 15 people. Please send your name, phone and e-mail along with your $100 check to: Donna Schaffer, 6321 West Dry Creek Road, Healdsburg, CA 95448 Questions? Call 433-9556 or e-mail dsscha@hotmail.com
Note: I will be in Europe from October 7 -18, register before or after those dates.
